Investigations

The BBB investigates and reports on questionable business activities thereby helping protect the reputation and fair competition of honest business.

We Keep An Eye Out For You

The purpose of the Better Business Bureau is preservation of marketplace ethics and consumer confidence in business. Far more often than handling consumer complaints, the BBB helps consumers make better buying decisions. When we do our job, our marketplace demonstrates a higher trust in advertising; is more resillient to scams and rip-offs; reflects a higher respect for merchants; and preserves the value of your dollar.

Member Public Relations Program

The BBB has a continuous newpaper print and media campaign designed to educate our community about the many services of the BBB. By sponsoring these campaigns, BBB members receive community recognition at nominal cost.

Tax Deductible Membership Dues

The Internal Revenue Service recognizes BBB as a reasonable and necessary business expense allowing your membership dues to be deducted as an ordinary business expense.

Advertising Review

The vast majority of advertising is ethical. However, there is a small percentage of advertising that is untruthful, misleading or deceptive. However, small, the amount is enough to impair the confidence of many consumers and to weaken the effectiveness of good advertising. The BBB monitors area advertising and provides a forum through which unfair or unsubstantiated claims by your competitors can be challenged.
